NEET 2020 Results: How and Where to Check it?

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the long-awaited NEET 2020 result. The NTA declared the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG) (NEET) 2020 results on the 16th of October. This result was declared after two days of conducting the phase two exam for the candidates who missed it in September 2020. The government has uploaded the result on the official website of NTA. Candidates can easily access their NEET- UG scorecards from the official website of NTA only.

What is NEET-UG?

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) is an all India Medical entrance exam. This examination is a common entrance examination for all the undergraduate medical (MBBS) and dental (BDS) courses. The former name of NEET was All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT).

 NTA is a government body which conducted NEET exams. Before NTA, CBSE was in charge to manage NEET-UG in partnership with Promatic Testing Pvt. Ltd. Earlier apart from the AIPMT, some medical colleges like All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) and Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) were used to conduct their separate entrance exams. But, from 2019 NEET became the single entrance test for all government colleges including AIIMS and JIPMER.

How to check NEET 2020 results?

To check your NEET 2020 result and to download the scorecard and merit list candidates can follow the given steps:

  • Open the NEET exam result page on the official website of the National Testing Agency (NTA).
  • Click to open the link ‘Score Card NEET (UG) 2020’
  • A new page will appear with a dialog box. Enter your details in the dialog box e.g.- Roll no, Date of Birth (DOB).
  • After filling in the details enter Security Pin (as shown on the page).
  • After completing all these steps click on ‘SUBMIT’ to open your scorecard. When your scorecard will appear on the screen carefully check all the details. These details include- Roll Number, Application Number, Personal details like name, father’s name, mother’s name, gender, DOB, nationality, category/sub-category, etc. You can also view Percentage obtained in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology). Candidate can also know about their Total Marks obtained, Percentile Score, NEET Qualifying Status, NEET 2020 Cutoff Score, NEET 2020 All India Rank.
  • After checking all the details you can download your scorecard. You can also take out a print of scorecard for further reference.

Admissions in Medical and Dental Colleges

Students who clear the NEET exams are eligible for admission to any dental and medical colleges in India. Student’s NEET scores decide the criteria for admission. Candidates need to submit their NEET 2020 scorecard. They have to submit their scorecards to colleges and universities. According to the availability of seats and merits, they can get admission in the respective colleges and universities.

Need to release Answer Key of NEET exam

After the exams, students eagerly wait for the results. To get to know how much they achieve, NTA announce the NEET 2020 results after few days of the exam. The period between the exam and the result is full of anxiety for the students. To give an estimation of their marks NTA releases answer keys. From this answer key students can calculate their marks. Through this calculation a candidate can get an idea about their performance in the conducted exam. In September 2020, NTA released its first Answer key of NEET 2020 exam. NTA released the final Answer key on 16th October 2020.

To calculate NEET score from the answer key you need to keep in mind that every correct answer will give you 4 marks. Every wrong answer will deduct 1 mark from your score.

NEET Score = (Total number of correct answers x 4) – (Total number of incorrect answers x 1)

How to calculate NEET 2020 percentile?

Calculation of scores or numbers is a must in any exam. It is so because it gives an idea about the position of a student while competing with other students. Similarly, in NEET exam, students are excited to know about their percentile. This is so because it may be crucial to get admission in their preferred college. These scores or percentile tell us that how many candidates have achieved high or low scores than a particular candidate. There are two different methods to calculate NEET 2020 percentile:

Percentile based on score:

Using the given formula, we can easily calculate the NEET percentile:

NEET percentile = Student’s NEET Score x 100 / NEET score of the Topper

Percentile based on Rank:

This method is a little tricky than the above method. A candidate can use it to calculate his / her percentile very effectively.

The validity of NEET Score Card 2020

The validity of the NEET scorecard will be for one year. This validity is for the students who are looking for admission to medical colleges and institutes in India. NEET score card 2020 will be valid for three years for the students who are seeking admission in abroad for studies.

The government proudly declared the list of toppers of NEET 2020. This is the moment of appreciation for the aspirants because with so much of hard work they prepare themselves for the exam. And Their hard work turns into success when they achieve their goals. Union education minister of India wished luck to the toppers and motivated the candidates, who could not qualify the NEET 2020 exam . He said that “An exam cannot define a person. Their potential and capabilities are required in other sectors also. Lots of opportunities are waiting for them. So, there is no need to feel disheartened.” This year, more than 13.66 lakh candidates appeared for NEET- UG 2020, out of which 7,71,500 students cleared the exam. Is there a tie between Soyeb Aftab and Akanksha Singh?

Soyeb Aftab is a native of Rourkela district of Odisha and Akanksha’s residence is in Delhi. These two candidates obtained equal scores but still, Soyeb Aftab is at the top in ranking of NEET 2020. When two candidates score the same points then this situation is considered as a tie. NTA has some parameters as a tiebreaker such as age, number of incorrect answers and subject wise marks. According to these parameters Soyeb Aftab was declared as a topper and Akanksha Singh is in the second position.

Special protective measures taken by NTA for NEET 2020:

Some months ago the government was in the controversy related to the organizing of the exam of JEE and NEET 2020. The exam of NEET 2020 was the hot topic of discussion among the people. The students and their parents were in the dilemma that should they send their wards for attempting exams or not. They were so tensed because of crucial situation after the outbreak of pandemic COVID-19.

The government put an end to all these controversies by conducting NEET 2020 exams. Special protective measures were adopted by NTA. Candidates who were appeared for the entrance test wore masks. Alcohol-based sanitizers were given before the commencement of the exam. Exam centers properly completed the process of body screening. They strictly maintained the social distancing during the NEET 2020 exam.
