SEBI Imposes Penalty on Mukesh Ambani

The Securities and Exchange Board (SEBI) of India has imposed penalties for alleged manipulation in the trading of Reliance Petroleum Ltd’s securities in 2007.  The SEBI charged fine of Rs 25 crore on Reliance Industries (RIL) and 15 crore on Ambani. Moreover, Navi Mumbai SEZ and Mumbai SEZ are other entities to pay penalties of Rs 20 crore and Rs 10 crore respectively.

Odisha Government Took a Step Towards Sustainable Agriculture

The Government of Odisha initiated 12 new projects in an attempt to double the farmers’ incomes and for sustainable agriculture. Moreover, Odisha government sanctioned Rs. 7,295.25 lakhs under Remunerative Approach for Agriculture and Allied Sector Rejuvenation. Also, the 12 projects include promotion of soil less nursery in tribal regions, and high-value crops, supply of kitchen garden kits, support to mushroom cultivation and flower cultivation.

Some of the major projects that Odisha government approved are promotion of pheromone traps, e-paste surveillance and management. Other projects also cover the issues like promotion of nutria garden in tribal areas, supply of mango grafts for backyard plantation, and supply of mix fruit plants for backyard plantation.

India Gets Closer to Covid-19 Vaccine as Expert Panel Approves Covishield

The Indian version of Covid-19 vaccine developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca gets approval by the expert panel. With some conditions, expert committee of India’s top drug regulator recommended the use of Covishield which is being tested and manufactured by Serum Institute of India. More than one crore Indians have been infected with the novel coronavirus. People have also been eagerly waiting for the vaccine against Covid-19.

PM Laid the Foundation Stone of IIM-Sambalpur in Odisha

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of permanent campus of IIM-Sambalpur in Odisha. It is the first IIM to implement the idea of flipped classrooms. However, the institute was announced in 2014 and established in 2015. Moreover, its temporary campus was functioning at Sambalpur University. Now the institute gets its permanent campus.

Earth to Reach Closest to Sun in its Annual Elliptical Orbit

On 2nd January 2021, earth will be at the closest to sun. During its annual elliptical orbit around sun, the point at which earth comes closest to the sun is known as perihelion. However, people will not be able to watch or notice this celestial event. The event can be significant for students and people to understand that earth’s temperature or seasons do not depend on the distance between the earth and sun but axial tilt of the earth during its travel.

John Fulton Reid, New Zealand’s Finest Test batsman, Dies at the Age of 64

John Fulton Reid breathed his last on 28 December, 2020 as he lost a long battle to cancer at the age of 64. He made his Test debut against Pakistan in 1979. He played in 19 Test matches and 25 One Day Internationals between 1979 and 1986. John mostly batted at No. 3 and finished his Test career with a noteworthy average of 46.28, which included six hundreds. Interestingly, Reid’s average is only second behind Kane Williamson among compatriots to play more than 20 innings.

Hockey Player and Olympic Bronze Winner, Michael Kindo Dies at 73

Michael Kindo passed away at the Ispat General Hospital at the age of 73 on December 31, 2020 due to age related problems. He was bedridden for quite some time and was also suffering from depression. In the 1972 Munich Olympics and the World Cup in 1975, Michael Kindo represented India and won bronze medal.

UK Expects to Supply 20 Lakh AstraZeneca Vaccine Doses

Britain will supply about two million doses of COVID-19 vaccine developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca. AstraZeneca expects to supply the vaccine every week by the middle of January in the United Kingdom. A UK newspaper reported that the plan is then to build it up fairly rapidly and by the third week of January we should get to two million a week.

Donald Trump Supporters will Hold Rally to Protest US Election Result

On Friday US President Donald Trump said that his supporters are planning to hold a rally. The rally will take place in the US capital of Washington. On January 6 they will protest against the result of the 2020 presidential election. The BIG Protest Rally in the state capital will take place at 11.00 A.M.
