India Celebrates 72nd Republic Day

On 26th January 2021, India celebrates its 72nd Republic Day. In 1950 on this day, Constitution of India came into effect and the country became a republic. Government Announces Recipients of Padma Awards for the Year 2021

Central government announced the list of recipients of Padma Awards for year 2021 on the eve of Republic Day of India. Moreover, president of India has approved total 119 Padma Awards including Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan. There are seven names including Shinjo Abe and S P Balasubramaniam in the list of Padma Vibhushan, India’s second highest civilian honour. Ten Padma Bhushan awardees and 102 Padma Shri awardees are announced.

On 24 January 2021, 71st foundation day of state, Uttar Pradesh CM launched Udyam Sarathi app. The app is developed to help the youth of state in finding job and employment related information. App will also comprise of a varied range of data regarding business opportunities in different departments and sectors, including the state and Central governments. Although, government has launched this app under the One District One Product (ODOP) scheme.

Wrestler Virender Singh, TT Player Mouma Das are Padma Shri Winners

The President of India felicitated the Padma Awards. The award winners are announced on the eve of Republic Day (January 26), every year. Similarly, this year seven sportspersons from the Indian sports fraternity have received the prestigious Padma awards for the year 2021 on Monday.  The Ministry of Home Affairs has also confirmed this on Monday.

Moreover, the list of Padma awardees includes the name of P. Anitha (basketball), Mouma Das (table tennis), Anshu Jamsenpa (mountaineering), Madhavan Nambiar (athletics coach). Moreover, the list also includes Sudha Hari Narayan Singh (athletics), Virender Singh (wrestling in deaf category), KY Venkatesh (para-athlete) have been awarded the prestigious award in the sports category for the year 2021.

The government of Maharashtra has decided to start ‘jail tourism’ from January 26, 2021. Moreover, the government will allow tours from Yerawada prison of Pune. Through this initiative, the state government aims to facilitate people to visit and see the historical prisons. Officials also state that the people will see the prisons as memories of many freedom fighters imprisoned there have been preserved.

Moreover, britishers imprisoned many freedom fighters in Yerawada jail including Mahatma Gandhi, Motilal Nehru, Jawaharlal Nehru, Lokmanya Tilak, Sarojini Naidu many many more.
