RBI’s Monetary Policy Announcements

Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is projected to contract by 7.7% in the current fiscal ending March 31, 2021 and also estimated to grow by 10.5% GDP for 2021-2022.

  1. Bank rate is unchanged at 4.25%
  2. Repo rate is unchanged at 4%
  3. The reverse repo rate is unchanged at 3.35%

Farmers’ Protests: FIR Filed by Delhi Police Against Protest Toolkit Shared by Greta Thunberg

In the latest development to the months-long ongoing farmers’ protests, Delhi Police filed a case against unknown persons in reference to the protest toolkit shared by climate activist Greta Thunberg on her Twitter account. Swedish activist Greta had forwarded her support to the farmers’ movement against the farm bills passed by Indian government. She tweeted, “We stand in solidarity with the #FarmersProtest in India”. She also shared a toolkit document suggesting peaceful actions in order to help the farmer protest. FIR filed by Delhi Police cited charges of sedition, overseas conspiracy and an attempt to promote enmity between the groups. In response of the case, Greta again extended her support with the tweet ‘’I still #StandWithFarmers and support their peaceful protest. No amount of hate, threats or violations of human rights will ever change that. #FarmersProtest’’.

NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory shared a dazzling picture of a pulsar on its Instagram account which has drawn a lot of reactions from the users. The striking image features the spinning ultra-dense star named SXP 1062. It is located in the Small Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy. A pulsar is a neutron star that emits beams of radiation that sweep through Earth’s line of sight.
