Hike in Fare of Domestic Flights

The rise in fuel prices led to an increase in air travel fares of domestic flights by up to 30%. The upper price band on 180-210 minute flights will be increased by about 30% to Rs 24,200. On the other hand, the shortest route for the minimum price band will be increased by Rs 200.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi handed over Made-in-India Arjun Main Battle Tank (Mark 1A) to Indian Army on 14th February 2021. The indigenously designed Arjun Tank developed by DRDO (Defense Research and Development Organisation). PM handed over the state-of-the-art tank to Army Chief General MM Naravane in Chennai.

Covid Warrior Memorial to be Constructed in Bhubaneswar

Odisha government will construct a Covid-19 Warrior Memorial in capital city Bhubaneswar to recognize the contributions of frontline workers in fighting the coronavirus pandemic. The memorial will be set up in Biju Patnaik Park of Bhubaneswar. State government might inaugurate the memorial on Independence Day this year. Around 60 Covid warriors lost their lives in the battle against the pandemic and this memorial will also honour their services and will keep them in the memory of people.

ISRO Opens its Satellite Centre for Private Companies

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has opened up its UR Rao Satellite Centre (URSC) for private sector first time in five decades. Two satellites developed by private companies were tested at ISRO facilities. ISRO will also allow private sector firms to test their engines at its Sriharikota Spaceport and Thiruvananthapuram Rocket Centre in the coming months.

Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin (266 wickets) on February 14, 2021 surpassed Harbhajan Singh (265 wickets) to become the second highest wicket-taker in Tests played in India. He achieved this status on the second day of the second test of the four-test series against England in Chennai. Moreover, Anil Kumble is the leading wicket-taker in Tests in India with 350 scalps.

Priyanka Goswami (25) shattered the national record in women’s 20-km walk at the 4th international race walking championship in Ranchi on February 13, 2021 with a timing of 1:28:45. However, the previous record of 1:29.54 was held by Bhawna Jat and was created in 2020.

Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Defence and MP Jual Oram has launched ‘Turn Around India: 2020- Surmounting Past Legacy’, a book on creating economic awareness among masses. The book is authored by RP Gupta. ‘Turn Around India: 2020’ is an intimate narrative of Gupta’s experiences and how he attained success through sheer hard work and determination. The book provides a practical and viable option for reviving Indian economy for creating new jobs and enlarging public income and also, the structural reforms such as fiscal and monetary stimuli for overcoming economic crisis arising due to pandemic. The book discusses about the economic history of India enabling to identify the strengths and weaknesses, and take corrective actions.

Actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ Memoir Named ‘Unfinished’

Actor-producer Priyanka Chopra Jonas officially turned author with the release of her first book. The book titled “Unfinished: A Memoir” that described her as “honest, raw and vulnerable”. Moreover, Michael Joseph imprint published the book that covers her dual-continent 20-year-long career as an actor and producer. The book also describes her work as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. The memoir also promises to offer insights into Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ childhood in India, and her formative teenage years in the US.

In Madhya Pradesh, Police Museum on Chambal Dacoits to be Set Up

The state of Madhya Pradesh has launched a unique Police museum at the police headquarters in Bhind, Madhya Pradesh. It themed on the dacoits and showcase their stories. The museum also contains several unique items used by dacoits namely Phoolan Devi and Nirbhay Gujjar. Several other items related to the Chambal dacoits will come up at the police museum. It also showcases the stills from the making of Bollywood movie ‘Chambal ke Daaku’.

The museum will display their crimes and therefore, has not been built to praise and pay respect to the dacoits. Moreover, it will showcase around 2,000 digitized police records and material. The museum will also highlight the sacrifices made by police to prevent any crime of the Chambal Dacoits. The place will have images of 28 martyred policemen who died while fighting with the dacoits. Along with this, it will also have images of 30 policemen who won the gallantry awards.

Moreover, according to ‘The Daily Telegraph’, the invisible coating of DioX on facemasks attacks the virus by rapturing its outer layer. It also effectively eliminating all-new mutant variants, including the UK variant and the South African variant.
