Evaluation Process of CBSE
As per the policy of the Board, students have been assessed out of a maximum of 100 marks for each subject. Out of which 20% marks are for internal assessment or practical and 80% marks for theory.
Since CBSE cancelled the board exams, the assessment of 80 marks has been done by the school. Schools calculate the marks scored by the candidate in different tests/exams conducted by the school itself during the year. Moreover, the CBSE had earlier announced an alternative assessment scheme for classes 10 and 12 to maintain fairness. According to the alternative assessment criterion, results will be prepared using student’s performance in internal assessments, periodic tests, half-yearly or mid-term exams and pre-board examinations.
For the assessment of the theory portion of marks, schools were asked to follow the formula given below:
|Class XII||Marks based on unit-test/mid-term/pre-board exam||40%|
|Class XI||Marks based on theory component of final exam||30%|
|Class X||Marks based on average theory component of best three performing subjects out of main 5 subjects||30%|
Registration Process for Optional Exams
The board had also provided students an option to appear in the exams later if they are not satisfied with the result. Central Board of Secondary Education will soon start the online application process for the students who wish to appear in the optional exam to improve their marks. After the announcement of class 10 and 12 results for 2021, the CBSE will begin the registration process for optional exams of class 12 from August 13 till August 22. The regular students can apply for the optional exams through their schools, while the private students will have to apply online from the official website of CBSE.
