India will Resume Vaccine Maitri Initiative in Fourth Quarter

On September 20, Union Health Minister of India Mansukh Mandaviya stated that India will resume its Vaccine Maitri initiative in the fourth quarter this year, starting from October 2021that was put on hold in April 2021. He further said that some other companies are going to launch their vaccines and India will produce more vaccine doses than the requirement. Moreover, centre is expecting more than 30 crore doses from the vaccine manufacturers in the next month.

The Central Government to Issue 12-Digit Unique IDs for Farmers

The central government begins generating 12-digit unique IDs for farmers of India. It is a part of the Digital Agriculture Mission of India to create a unified Farmers Service Interface. This 12-digit unique ID will help in availing all-farm-related services of several agricultural schemes and credit facilities. The IDs will also help the central and state government to have accurate data across 11 states including Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh.

The Union Minister for Road, Transport and Highways of India said that Delhi-Mumbai Express Highway is being constructed as the world’s longest highway. The project of express-way is expected to be completed by March 2023. He further said that over 15,000 hectares of land have been acquired across states for the construction of the expressway. The farmers have been paid 1.5 times more than the market price by the ministry for require land acquisition.

The Rajasthan Assembly passes a bill to amend the Rajasthan Compulsory Registration of Marriages 2009 Act. The act allows mandatory registration for marriages including child marriages. As per the new amendment, if the bride or groom is underage or the groom is below 21 years and the bride is less than 18 years then it is their parents’ or guardians’ responsibility to submit the memorandum for registration of their marriage within a specified time period of thirty days from the date of marriage.

Plant Discoveries 2020 has Added 267 New Species to the Country’s Flora

In a survey conducted by the Botanical department of India, 267 new plant species have been discovered across the country. The 267 new species include 119 angiosperms, 5 bryophytes, 3 pteridophytes, 44 lichens, 57 fungi, 21 algae and 18 microbes. With these latest discoveries, the new estimate of plants species in India now stands at 54,733.

Girls are allowed to Return to Schools in Taliban

On Tuesday, the Taliban said that the girls in Afghanistan will be allowed to return to schools as soon as possible. The Education Ministry ordered male teachers and students to get back to secondary school at the weekend, but not mentioned the country’s women educators and girl pupils. But, in a press conference in Kabul, the spokesperson of the Taliban, Zabihullah Mujahid said that they are finalizing the things and return of girls to school will be possible.

Study Says, Covid-19 Variants ‘Getting Better’ at Transmission via Air

According to a study, conducted by researchers at the University of Maryland has found that variants of Covid-19 are evolving to get better at transmission through the air.  According to the report published in the journal Clinical Infectious Diseases, also found that people who have been in contact with this viral illness exhale 43 to 100 times more virus into the air than those infected with its original strains.
