The summary of the book:
The plot starts when in a school a girl named Hannah Baker committed suicide at a very young age. Nobody knew the reason and the police were investigating the real cause of her death. Clay Jensen returns home from school and finds a strange packet lying on his porch with his name on it. There were 13 cassette tapes in the packet recorded by Hannah baker, his classmate and secret crush. Hannah’s voice in the tapes tells him that there are thirteen reasons why she decided to end her life. Each tape contains a reason for her suicide. And the reasons that Hannah narrates in the audiotape change Clay’s life forever.
When he listens to the tapes he finds that he is one of the reasons for her suicide. As he comes closer to knowing Hannah’s reasons, he feels her pain and experience. While discovering the truth of Hannah, he discovers himself. Jay Asher is an American young adult fiction writer. He spent years trying to kick-start a career writing children’s picture books. He also worked in a shoe store, a trophy shop, libraries, and bookstores. Asher has published four books and has also co-written, ‘The future of Us’ with Carolyn Mackler. Netflix released a series based on his novel ‘Thirteen Reasons Why’, and won many awards.
