PM Narendra Modi Get Vaccinated

Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi received first dose of Covid vaccine on 1st March, 2021 under the country’s second round of vaccination drive. PM was administered Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. He also appealed to people who are eligible to take vaccine and contribute in making the country Covid-19 free. In the second phase of India’s vaccination campaign starting from March 1, shots will be given to senior citizens and people with comorbidities in the age group of 45 to 59. There is no fee of vaccination at government facilities while private centres will charge Rs 250 per dose.

Sports Ministry Restores Recognition of Gymnastics Federation of India After 10 Years

The Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has restored the recognition of the Gymnastics Federation of India (GFI) as the National Sports Federation (NSF) with immediate effect till December 31, 2021. The appointment of the office-bearers for the federation will be done through an election following the Model Election Guidelines which will be issued by the Ministry.

However, the Sports Ministry warned that this recognition is subject to withdrawal in case any of the terms and conditions regarding the recognitions are violated.

Deepak, an Asian silver-winner, was up against Bulgaria’s Daniel Asenov, a two-time European championships gold-medallist. The bout also ended in a split verdict in favor of the local favorite.

On February 28, 2021, the iconic Hong Kong actor died of liver cancer at the age of 70. He was born in China’s Fujian province in 1951. Upon garnering experience in several film and television titles throughout the 70s and 80s, he received a recurring role in the adventure series ‘The Legend of the Condor Heroes.’

Arizona Reports More Than 17,000 New Covid-19 Cases

On Sunday, Arizona has reported new Covid-19 cases over 17,000. It is the highest daily total since the start of the pandemic. The previous daily high, according to Johns Hopkins University’s dashboard was on December 8 with 12,314. Currently, there are 556,384 total cases in the state. However, the state did not report any deaths on Sunday.

China Rolls Out Its First One-Jab Covid-19 Vaccine

China has given conditional approval for a single-dose Covid-19 vaccine. However, this single-shot vaccine could give a tough competition to Johnson & Johnson’s one-jab shot. China started its first Ad5-nCoV COVID-19 vaccination drive on Friday, according to the state-run Global Times. The Global Times also states that the country started its phase-1 clinical trials of the vaccine in March last year, making it the world’s first COVID-19 candidate vaccine that entered clinical trials.
